A door-to-door survey in Vadakattupatti identified 45 abandoned, neglected elders and 5 young widows as beneficiaries of our rice distribution program. Our goal is to ensure they have nutritious meals daily.
During festivals, we provided new clothes, uniform saris, stainless steel water bottles for clean drinking water, shawls for winter, and mats, pillows, and blankets for their safety and comfort at home.
This initiative not only provided nourishment but also created a sense of togetherness, allowing people to share moments of joy and build lasting connections.
We arranged a two-day excursion to Velankanni for our beneficiaries, offering them accommodation in quality hotels, nutritious meals, and the opportunity to enjoy bathing in the sea, relaxation, and refreshment.
In collaboration with the Dindigul District Eye Club and Damian Eye Hospital, we conducted an eye camp on 11/08/203 at the Maryam Foundation Meeting Hall. Over 100 participants received free eye tests, and eligible individuals were provided with free eyeglasses. Nine cataract surgeries were successfully performed.
In partnership with St. Joseph Hospital, Dindigul, we organized a medical camp on 19/11/2023, benefiting over 100 villagers who received medical tests and free medications. An additional camp exclusively for our beneficiaries was held with St. Ann’s Convent Hospital, providing free tonics, medicines, and tablets.
Maryam Foundation, in conjunction with Dr. Rajini’s Harisini Hospital, Madurai, organized a free Ear, Nose, and Throat camp on 17/03/2024. Over 80 participants received audiogram tests, with severe cases recommended for advanced treatment in Madurai. Three hearing aids were provided through the CM's insurance scheme.
As part of the Tamil festival, we organized sports events for children and adults, distributed crackers, sweets, and exchanged Diwali wishes, ensuring everyone had a joyous celebration.
A special event was held before Christmas, featuring a dance competition, distribution of cakes, and new dresses for all beneficiaries, including orphan children, fostering festive joy.
This famous Tamil festival was celebrated with all villagers, irrespective of caste or creed. Our beneficiaries cooked and distributed Pongal with sugarcane, games, sports, and cultural activities, creating a joyful atmosphere.
On Women’s Day, we organized sports and games competitions for women, highlighting their importance in society and awarding special prizes to winners, emphasizing their pivotal role in societal progress.
To promote environmental conservation and community engagement, the Maryam Foundation distributed 150 saplings to children and elders in the village, encouraging them to plant trees around the trust office premises. The first tree was planted by the parish priest, followed by the enthusiastic participation of both children and elders. Mr. Rajakumar, the Managing Trustee, delivered an awareness speech highlighting the importance of planting trees.
